Edgar Koi focuses on common threads running through society, drawing attention to preconceived boundaries in the sociological landscape. Originally influenced by Mexico's foundational art culture he juxtaposes emotive drawings with provocative text, refusing to be bound by peoples expectations, he avoids falling into the usual clichés.
His new works explore how people conceptualise Death, Memory, Change and Renewal in a contemporary context. The drawings ultimately reflect issues of post-modernist pain, otherwise known as post-modernism existentialism. Where there are no absolutes of any kind and there are no universal truths nor universal criteria for beauty and nor are there universal principles of the GOOD. There is a return of relativism in the sphere of morality, bringing the threat of chaos which relativism spawns.
